This week I began to think about my final garment and obtaining the right fabrics having experimented with the medical weaves I decided that I would like to use a mix of skin coloured toned fabrics which reminded me of plasters. I visited Dalston Fabric Mill and obtained some initial meterage of some Italian nylon spandex fabric [similar to that used in shape-wear] and also some waterproof grey cotton and off cuts and various haberdashery trimmings.

Having obtained the fabrics, I began to really be able to visualise my final garment with more clarity.
My plan was to experiment printing my reverse plaster image onto these different fabrics prior to buying the full meterage I would need in case the materials reacted the wrong way in the print process. Which they did! The Grey fabric I brought was not able to go through the heat press roller so I had to do it with the hand machine which meant I would have to do it section by section. Initially I had the temperature to high which melted the fabric and I had pressed it down the whole, I then changed the temperature to a lower heat and didn’t fully press it down and the print came out perfectly.
