FMP WEEK 4

During this week I visited the library and I searched for books that had anything to do with skin. This was definitely harder than I thought it was going to be. I came across two books that I thought would work well with my project one of them was The Body and the other was Skin. Both of these books where full with images of different colour, texture and things that looked like skin.

With all of these images I collected from the books I began to collage them into my book with different mediums and then I tried to make my own textures with some of the images.

I then began to think about how the natural environment can be so similar to the human skin visually. I travelled to an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset – Chapman’s Pool and took a series of photographs of the clay and sand that had over the past 12 months become so dried out and cracked.

From these images I then developed some shapes that I had taken from the cracked earth images and put them over a muse and started to experiment with the lines across the body. I then took shapes from the cracks and drew them on to a muse to create vast sleeves.
