When I was given the choice to do a knitting workshop I wasn’t sure with the idea at first, but then I thought it would be a really helpful and fun skill to have. The first day when we were introduced to the knitting machines we were told how to set the machines up and also the basics of how to knit. At first I found it tricky but then once I got the hang of it, it was fine. We also got taught some more advance knitting techniques called Cast on, Honeycomb, Lace holes and Stripes. My favourite one was the honeycomb as when I turned it over it had this scrunch affect which I really like and gave so much texture to one simple fabric. For our final piece we were told the next day that we were going to be weaving with the yarn and any other random bits we wanted, so I then collected some random recycled bit including a receipt, Tesco bag and black yarn. I them found this really interesting, incorporating all of the techniques I had learnt and then putting them in to one. This was my final out come above and I felt that it was a really good start to knitting especially as I had never tried it before.
